Why does Lo panic when she meets Otto Jansson in the novel, The Woman in Cabin 10?

Lo almost has a panic attack when Nilsson takes her to meet Otto Jansson, the head cook on board the Aurora, and she sees he is wearing latex gloves, just like the man who broke into her house was wearing.
