Katterijn is an exclusive, wealthy neighborhood in the suburb of Constantia, outside Cape Town. Katterijn owes its history to the Dutch, and its present-day residents are mostly white. The neighborhood is beautiful and well-manicured, with great care being taken for the gardens in each yard. Katterijn has a dark history, however, as it was once a slave-worked plantation overseen by ancestors of the Von Struickers. The neighborhood also includes an expansive vineyard, part of which is targeted by the state for reparations, but passed over in favor of the Koppie.
