Princess Elizabeth was the only surviving child of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII. She grew up in King Henry's household, first as a member of Mary's household, and later as a member of Edward's household. Because of her mother's fall from grace, Elizabeth was declared illegitimate and removed from the line of succession. Later in life, however, Henry VIII would return both his daughters to the line of succession. Elizabeth eventually took the crown of England upon the death of her sister Mary. She ruled England for more than sixty years.
