Catherine of Aragon was Henry's frist wife, as well as his brother's widow. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain. Catherine was Henry's queen for twenty years, and the mother of his daughter Mary. He put Catherine aside, later divorcing her, in order to marry Anne Boleyn, who he believed would give him a male heir. Catherine died of cancer while living in seclusion.
