The Statue of Hermione becomes a symbol of betrayal of love and deep friendship. When Leontes accuses Hermione of adultery, many of their friends object, saying it can’t possibly be true. Leontes is so certain that it’s true that he wants to kill Polixenes. He seems to convince Camillo to poison Polixenes for his action; but, Camillo believes that Leontes will later realize that he was wrong and will then be upset that he had Polixenes killed.
