After the abduction of her husband, and the disappearance of Bowman and Kestrel, Ira returns to her roots, becoming a prophetess and camping out at the base of the wind singer. She declares that the people will one day soon be happy, and in the novel's conclusion, she is reunited with her husband and her children.
