What is the main setting in the novel, The Wind-up Bird Chronicle?

The novel takes place in several different locations in and around the city of Tokyo and Japan itself. Still other events unfold in China, Mongolia and the former Soviet Union. In addition, a rather intricate group of indoor personal spaces are also at play in the novel. The most important personal space is Toru and Kumiko's moderately-priced house in the lovely area of Setagaya.
