How does the author use symbolism in the novel, The Whole Town’s Talking?

The authr uses the Schoolhouse as a symbol of love, comfort, and legacy. The schoolhouse is built at Katrina’s suggestion to Lordor, and, eventually, it is placed near Still Meadows. Everyone at Still Meadows is comforted to hear their grandchildren playing, and they are happy that the generations are continuing on and representing the Elmwood Springs Legacy.
