What is the importance of the white rose in the novel, The White Princess?

The white rose represents the York family. It also represents freedom, purity, and patience. The York flower on its' own is a powerful reminder of the former royal family. However, after Henry takes the throne, the white rose is rarely seen without being tied to the red rose and is meant to be a symbol of unity between cousins.
