Why does Lisa leave her husband, Willi, in the novel, The White Hotel?

Willi and Lisa's marriage is brief. Willi is a barrister, and after he is called away by the military, Lisa leaves him and has the marriage annulled. Due to Willi and his family's anti-Semitic views, Lisa keeps her Jewish heritage a secret, but she feels it makes her husband hate her anyway.
