In Section 2, the reader finds Jinny perfectly at home in the highly social atmosphere found at school, and she remains fascinated with material objects, which is revealed by her fascination with one of her teacher's dresses. Rhoda, on the other hand, is entirely uncomfortable while in school, repeating the phrase that she has "no face," signaling to the reader that she is struggling to find her place in life. As such, it is safe to say that these two girls have opposite reactions to being in school.
