Louis appears content and at-ease as he appears in Section 6. Although he is in the midst of a mundane task, signing his name to a stack of papers, he tries to identify himself as having an important role in society. Although this may suffice for Bernard, the reader might be less supportive, acknowledging Louis's rampant insecurities which have been following him his whole life, and recognizing that Louis would be the first to exaggerate his role in society as a means of raising his self-importance.
