Woolf has created a template upon which she can stretch and develop her characters simultaneously. At the beginning of the novel, we saw how connected all of the characters were, all engaging in the same acts in the same locales. By the second section, while the characters are still doing the same things, such as going to school and making major life decisions, they are doing them somewhat more separately.
