Why did Omar's wife request that Tiffany have an affair with her husband in the novel, The Wallcreeper?

Because her husband was being transferred to Topeka and she didn’t want to go with him, Omar’s wife asked Tiffany to have an affair with Omar. She knew that if Omar were caught having an affair she could file for divorce and she would be granted alimony.
