Who is Morris in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's, The Valley of Fear?

Morris is the elderly member of the Scrowers, who disapproves of their violent tactics. He repeatedly warns his brothers to be careful in who they target. Morris later seeks out McMurdo as an ally and provides information about the Pinkerton spy to McMurdo.
