Bakha leaves the church compound after hearing how Mrs. Hutchinson talks; she reminds him of the other people who have shouted abuse at him during his day, and he is tired of being blamed for everything. But because she is a white woman, he feels even worse about getting yelled at by her, and he cannot bring himself to admit that he is angry at her. Instead, he channels his feelings into being even more angry at the other people who have made his day miserable.
