Bakha's own religious background contains no such idea, and so he tries to get Hutchinson to clarify. But Hutchinson is too prudish to explain the idea of original sin, and so he ends up insulting and further confusing Bakha by telling Bakha that he is sinful and must confess before converting. Bakha is not conscious of having committed any sinful acts, and so he takes offense at this idea.
