Why is Camilla murdered in the book, The Underdogs a Novel of the Mexican Revolution?

Luis captures Camilla and brings her to the band, where she eventually feels comfortable with Demetrio, who is smitten with the beautiful, young woman. Her life, however, is cut short when War Paint stabs her to death after Demetrio orders War Paint out of the army.
