What is the importance of Viking Gardens in the novel, The Trespasser?

Viking Gardens is the neighborhood where Aislinn lives. This place is also near where Conway lives. At first, it would seem that the only importance of this place is that it is the place where the murder took place, but it is also the place where Rory stalked Aislinn and the place where McCann had an affair with her.
