Luguswela (Lu) is Meg’s guardian that shows how important it is for someone in an abusive situation to find an ally. While Lu was unable to remove Meg from the abusive situation, she was able to train her enough that Meg could survive on her own once she did escape. Lu took care of Meg as much as she was able and gives up her hands when attempting to protect Meg again. Without Lu sacrificing her immortality, Meg and Apollo never would have defeated Nero. Without Lu’s sympathy, Meg never would have escaped Nero’s abuse.
