Luna and Natalia are Adam’s daughters. In the present day, Adam is about 40 years old, is married, and has two young daughters. Adam does his best to protect his daughters from societally ingrained misogyny, and he also tries to instill in them progressive ideals. In the novel’s final scene, Adam takes his daughters to a protest against the Trump administration and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
