A year later, Constable Robert Norris is visiting Navissa when "the wind seemed to rise, and abruptly it grew strikingly cold." He looks up and "a black spot came hurtling down at me, and I ran back toward the house. Before I could reach it, however, I found my path blocked; before me, the figure of a man fell gently into the snow banks. I stopped, but before I could go to him, another form fell with equal softness on the other side of me and, lastly, a third form came down; but this form did not come gently—it was thrown to the earth with great force."
