What is the author's style in The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult?

The writing of the story is fairly concise but informal. The story is divided into narrative and dialogue but the majority of the story is presented as narrative. The dialogue is reasonable and believable for the characters, story, time, and setting. There are a few words and phrases in Daniel's native Alaskan language but these are adequately explained and do not detract from understanding.
