What is the setting in the novel, The Tale of the Body Thief?

The Tale of the Body Thief takes place all over the world in the mid-1980s. The novel begins in Miami, one of Lestat's favorite cities, but quickly moves to England and then the Gobi desert. Later, Lestat returns home to New Orleans, only to travel again to Georgetown and then the South Pacific. The global setting of this novel is realistic and exciting, showing the reader a world that is unaware and unprepared for such a character as this novel's narrator, Lestat.
