What was the first session of Hinton's book club like?

The first book club meeting consisted of five Black guys and two white guys discussing a James Baldwin book. They were allowed to meet in the law library, but they had to sit at a different table. They could not get up. To talk to one another, they had to sort of swivel around in their seats. If someone had to read something from the book, they had to toss the book and hope the guy caught it or it landed where someone could reach it. They were not allowed to get up from their seats.
