What scars did Hinton have from watching so many men die?

Hinton had emotional scars from watching so many men die. Every death killed off a piece of him. His soul died a little, his mind cracked a bit, and his heart pounded and bled as a piece of it tore off. A mind, heart, and soul could only endure so much.
