Eleanor Louise Cowell Bundy was Ted Bundy's mother. She was young and unmarried when she became pregnant with Ted, and she delivered him in a home for unwed mothers in Vermont. She pretended to be Ted's sister while her own parents posed as Ted's parents. Eleanor does not figure prominently in the book's narrative of the book, but her early deception in raising Ted strongly affects his psyche and his resulting relationships with women.
