What is the author's tone in The Story of Philosophy by Will Durant?

Durant writes as an objective historian who presents the facts of individual philosophers lives without qualitative commentary. His objective approach provides the reader with an opportunity to see the philosopher as he lived in the absence of the author's overriding commentary.
