Who is Great Aunt Lucinda from Lucinda's Secret and what is their importance?

Great Aunt Lucinda is the Grace children's grandmother's sister. Her father wrote the Field Guide, and as a result, Lucinda is tortured as a child by the creatures of the Fantastical World beause they want the Guide. Physically damaged by the torture. Lucinda seems to be in asylum.... far away from the evil creatures.
