Gerald's character represents all misogynistic men through his mistreatment of Lina. First, he insists Lina would make a good party planner simply because she is a woman. Then, he accuses her of sleeping with Aaron to advance her career. His constant bullying of Lina and the other women in the workplace reveals that he does not respect them as his equals.
