Even though they are husband and wife, why do Saknis's feelings about the white man differ from the feelings of Attean's grandmother?

Saknis realizes that even though the white men killed his daughter, their presence is inevitable. Attean explains to Matt that his grandfather says that Indians must learn to live with the white man. The grandmother still hates the white man and does not want to accept the inevitable.
