Who is Danjel Andreasson from The Settlers and what is their importance?

Danjel Andreasson is Kristina's uncle. He moved to America with Karl and Kristina because he was persecuted for his religious beliefs in Sweden. Danjel tells Kristina that her heart's desires are already known to God, referring to the fact that should she become barren, she should not be again be subjected to the rigors of giving birth.
