Is anyone in the crowd sympathetic toward Hester? In Chapter Two, explain?

One of the woman in the crowd shows compassion for Hester and bids her friends to keep their voices down. It is apparent this young woman believes that Hester has not only been punished enough, but that she has punished herself enough.

“O, peace, neighbors, peace!” whispered their youngest companion; “do not let her hear you! Not a stitch in that embroidered letter but she has felt it in her heart.”
