The Scarlet Letter How do most of the townspeople regard Hester's punishment- as too severe, too lenient, or appropriate? Asked by bookragstutor on 28 Nov 08:47 Last updated by anonymous on 23 Dec 00:33
Most of the townspeople in The Scarlet Letter believe that Hester's punishment was too lenient. The penalty for the type of crime she committed was death, and yet, she was not given that punishment.
