In the Introduction, Frederick talks about how God speaks in unexpected ways. Although he acknowledges that not everyone believes that God speaks to us at all through our lives, he possesses a conviction that if God does speak to people, he speaks into their personal lives. Although the book takes the form of a memoir, really the book is about how Freddy hears God speaking to him throughout various parts of his early life, and how, unexpectedly, Freddy finds exactly what he is looking for in Jesus Christ.
