In The Ruins of Gorlan (Ranger's Apprentice) Horrace is considered a 'natural' at being a warrior. However, his instructors don't want to tell him this as it might make him become cocky and difficult to train. The other boys are merciless in their pranks and bullying against Horrace, constantly telling him that the attention he is getting from the trainers is because he is so abyssmal.
