The author depicts Zenia as an actress, like Tony's mother, and amusingly casts Zenia in a play called The Trojan Women, which is an apt metaphor not only for war but for feminine deception. This creates the perception that Zenia and Tony treat West like a pawn, or like territory for which they are competing.
