Vtrya is mentioned later as an adversary in the later hymns. The conflict and defeat of Vtrya led to Indra being confirmed as a great fighter and active destroyer of evil. As this made him a killer beyond any question, Indra also acquires the roles as 'the terrible' and 'the destroyer.'
