Kline is portrayed as a sort of harmless eccentric who glories in Elvis-on-velvet paintings and other kitsch. He's a devoted dad and an adequate provider. After the accidental killing of Richard Allen Mesinger, Kline turns to drink and kills himself in a single-car drunk driving accident.
