When Michael visits the cemetery he recognizes another member of the seminar, an old classmate of his. The man is now an attorney and offers to give Michael a ride home. The two men talk briefly, and the attorney asks Michael why he was so interested in the trial and in Hanna, because the rest of the class had caught on to the fact that there was something going on between Michael and Hanna. The attorney then asks Michael outright if Michael was involved with Hanna, but Michael quickly excuses himself and jumps onto a waiting streetcar before answering the attorney.
