What does Michael do while staying home alone during the last week of vacation, in Chapter 12?

Michael allows his sister to convince him to shoplift. He steals a pair of jeans for his sister and a nightgown for Hanna. One evening Michael invites Hanna to his home and cooks dinner for her while she explores his house and his father's study. Michael then gives her the nightgown, and she models it for him, a memory he fondly looks back upon.
