Michael imagines Hanna near the burning church. She is wearing a uniform and holding a whip. He then sees an image of her being read to, and then Hanna telling the reader that she would be transported to Auschwitz the next day. He sees Hanna's face, which is hardened and cold, marching and screaming orders at the prisoners. He then sees images of the burned church the morning after the fires.
