The narrator asks a goddess what motive might lead a well-bred lord to attack a beautiful young woman. The narrator also wonders what might make a beautiful young woman reject a lord. Then the narrator asks if small men can become involved in great matters and if extreme anger can reside in the heart of a young woman.
