Why does Julia tell Dr. Lynn what she did to try to keep Delia from tearing?

To prevent Delia from tearing, Julia applied pressure on the perineum. Julia shares this with Dr. Lynn, because she wants Dr. Lynn know that she did the appropriate technique, even though it did not help Delia. Julia also wants Dr. Lynn to know she is competent and capable.
