Why does Julia count herself lucky, regarding the pandemic?

Julia believes she is lucky for two reasons, regarding the pandemic. First, she had caught the virus but got through it practically unscathed. At the start of September she had taken to her bed hurting all over but was back on her feet in a matter of days. Second, since she had the flu, she is now immune and can safely be around others who are sick.
