What idea does Leo inadvertently give Max?

Leo notices through his calculations that there is about two thousand dollars unaccounted for. Max says that the money likely went to odds and ends and requests that Leo does some creative bookkeeping to cover it up. As he does so, Leo remarks that it would be quite easy for a Broadway producer to walk away with more money from producing a flop than he would a success.
