How do Max, Leo, and Franz get pardoned?

While in prison, Max and Leo decide to put on yet another musical, Prisoners of Love, as a way to pass time. While the production is underway, a guard comes in and announces that Max, Leo and Franz have all been pardoned, as they have brought happiness and cheer to the formerly dismal jail.
