What tensions existed between the United States and Britain after the war? Why?

Britain and the United States were at odds over the distribution of oil in the Middle East. Both sides wanted to be assured of access to oil in the region, since oil resources there were high. The United States proposed a distribution, but Britain felt that the terms were unfair.
