Who is Edward Tudor from The Prince and the Pauper and what is their importance?

Edward Tudor, the Prince of Wales, is the son of King Henry VIII, and the future king of England. Edward was born in London on the same day as Tom Canty, and the two boys bear a remarkable physical resemblance.
