In Section 6, Part 3 Angier's journal begins narrating the book. It begins when he was nine, when he first became interested in the art of illusion. His other first entries are removed, admittedly by him, for the comments they contain. He recounts the death of his father and his life after his older brother took control of the family estates. From there, Angier's journal is infrequent in its entries.
